Eleven men and three ladies turned out in very wet and windy conditions to join 250 runners taking part in the 4th race of this season’s Borders Road Running League held over a 5.2 mile course at Prestatyn on Sunday.

John Morris led the men home in 29m 20s for 12th overall. Jodi Waters ran 30m 33s (24th) followed by Darren Blazier running 31m 12s (30th) and James Salt finishing in 32m 44s (58th). Sean McCormack ran 33m 24s (68th) ahead of Mark Mayers finishing in 34m 01s (77th). Darren Battersby crossed the line in 35m 33s (100th) closely followed by Steven McCormack, who was drafted in to run at very short notice, finishing in 35m 58s (110th). Brian Williams and Anthony Howe completed a strong team performance by the men finishing in 39m 50s (181st) and 40m 52s (195th) respectively. Grahame Shone was forced to pull out during the race with injury.

Amy Owen-Jones led the ladies home in 37m 48s for 143rd overall. Chris Birch ran 38m 31s for 2nd FV60 (158th) with Rachel Shipley finishing in 39m 45s (179th) to secure 2nd place in Division 2 on the day for the ladies team.
