The start of the autumn season is always a great time for running clubs Abergele Harriers fielded 20 runners for the first race of the 2017-2018 Borders League, staged by Ellesmere Port RC in Capenhurst, with 17 clubs from across North Wales and North West Cheshire, despite bad weather forecast the conditions where good and the autumnal colours and conkers added to the ground conditions.

With some of the Harriers in great form and a few suffering a different race day yesterday the results were excellent and first home in the men’s section was 22nd Richard Wilyman 28:46; 53rd Darren Blazier 30:20; 87th Simeon Fawcett 31:42; 90th Nick Foden 31:46; 95th James Salt 32:05; 105th Mark Mayers 32:28; 113th Laurence Parry 32:49; 115th Craig Jones 32:51 this was Craig’s first race in Harriers Borders Team; 125th Jodi Waters 33:25; 136th Darren Battersby 33:47; 171st  Ben Garnett 35:00; 206th Rob Armstrong 36:22; 208th Martin Barnaby 36:28; 255th Anthony Howe 38:32; 256th John Jones 38:32; 291st Grahame Shone 40:34. Ladies – 23rd Emma Collins 36:10 it was great to have Emma back running the Borders Team; 37th Rachel Shipley 37:54; 53rd Chris Birch 39:43; 84th Lorraine Nesbitt 43:44, this is an excellent for Lorraine in her first Borders race, and her first official 5m time.
