Grand Prix 2020 - Cancelled because of Covid Pandemic
The 2020 Grand Prix will run from 1st January 2020 to 30th November 2020. The winners of the Grand Prix (male and female) will be the people who accumulate the most points from the selected races during that time. Points are awarded based on the type/distance of race (see below) and the number of Harriers who finish the race (1 extra point for last Harrier home, 2 for second last, etc.). Points are awarded separately for male and female finishers.

Position bonus based of number of Harriers in race;
1 point bonus per position depending on number of Harriers in the race. (Separate for Ladies and Men).
Bonus points for all Harriers in race.
Last Harrier in gets 1 point.
Separate points for Men and Women; i.e. if 5 men and 3 women in a race, the points awarded will be Men 5,4,3,2,1 and Ladies 3,2,1. The Two Grand Prix Tables will be produced separately (Men and Ladies) so this way you cannot compare men’s and ladies overall results, but it is fairer to the “slower” runners as they are only compared to Harriers of the same sex not all Harriers (as is done in League Competitions).
If 10 Male harriers in race, then first gets 10, if 5 first gets 5 etc, if only 1 then first only gets 1 bonus point. (So 10 Harriers in race è bonuses 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, while if only 5 then 5,4,3,2,1).
Advantages of this system;
1) Encourages diversity of distances and disciplines, the winners are more likely to be “all-rounders”.
2) Separate Grand Prix competition for Ladies and Men.
3) Encourages people to try to encourage others to do races with them, as bonuses based on number of Harriers doing races.
4) May encourage people to do League races, as often more Harriers do these so potential for bigger bonuses.
5) Encourages people to do North Wales Championship races.
6) Encourages people to do local races.
