Round 2 Borders League
Birkenhead Park, 15/11/2009

Sixteen Harriers took part in the second round of the Borders Road Running League in Birkenhead Park. Over the four lap course, Darren Blazier lead the team home, and despite recent injury, still managed an excellent 31mins 42secs for 14^th position overall. Geran Hughes, another member getting over long term injury, again ran superbly, finishing in 33mins 15secs for 43^rd position, just under a minute ahead of Matthew Ashton, who finished in 34mins 13secs for 60^th position. Rob Batterbee made his league debut with a tremendous 34mins 53secs for 75^th, while Keith Elliott continues his return to form with an equally impressive 36mins 30secs for 111^th. Grahame Shone put in his usual hard-working performance with a superb 37mins 16secs for 128^th, just five positions and fifteen seconds ahead of the ever reliable Ed Reid. Mike Carrighan improved on his first league position by a fantastic twenty positions, finishing in 154^th position, while Mark Mayers had another very satisfactory run, finishing in 41mins 5secs for 218^th. Peter Hardy also ran very well completing the course in just over 43mins for 240^th, while Alan Lucas wad another fabulous run finishing in 45mins 57secs for 275^th. The men’s team was completed by John Essary who maintained his record of never having missed a Borders League race for the club finishing in 278^th overall. Very satisfyingly the ladies once again fielded a team of four, the same four who ran in the first round in Christleton. Once again Carol Willgoose led the team home in  184^th position overall, while Jenni Richards again wasn’t far behind, on this occasion finishing in 199^th position. Angie Hughes continued her road to recovery finishing in 41mins 10secs for 221st, while Sian Hall completed the team in an outstanding 252^nd overall, making it a very satisfactory day overall for the Harriers.
