Capenhurst, 22/2/2009
Eleven Abergele Harriers travelled to Capenhurst for the fifth round of the Borders Road Running League, and, although it was a slightly weakened team, they still managed some excellent individual performances and the team managed to stay outside the relegation zone. First Harrier home, with another first class performance was Josh Dixon in a fantastic time of 29mins 11secs for 6th position overall in a very strong field. Borders League Manager Darren Blazier was next with another superb performance finishing in 14th position in a time of 29mins 52secs while Tim Cahill finished in 24th on the day, 3rd MV45, in a time of 31mins 11secs, helping to move him into 2nd position overall in his very competitive age category. One of the performances of the day came from Haydn Jones who came home fourth Harrier on the day in an amazing time of 35mins 7secs for 92nd position, just ahead of a trio of Harriers finishing within 32 seconds of each other; Keith Elliott, Grahame Shone, and Ed Reid who finished in 35:40, 35:48 and 36:12 respectively. Mark Mayers also ran tremendously well finishing in exactly 39 minutes for 146th position while Peter Hardy also ran very well for 160th in a very good time of 41mins 5secs. Alan Lucas, who seems to be enjoying a new lease of life since he entered a new age category, continued his resent excellent form to finish in 41mins 57secs for 169th, while Borders League ever-present John Essary completed the team in 45mins 3secs for 179th in a field of 251 finishers.
