Round 6 Borders League
Prestatyn, 11/4/2010

Nine men and three women travelled to Prestatyn for their Borders League race, where 225 runners completed the five mile course. The ladies team maintained their position at the top of the second division and improver’s league, with the “usual” trio of runners performing very well. Carol Willgoose lead the tri home in 141st position overall, in a time of 37 minutes exactly for 17th lady on the day and good enough to keep her top of the FV50 category overall. Not far behind was Jeni Richards, who despite not feeling well before the race, still managed a strong performance, finishing in 159th overall and 24th lady, in a time of 38mins 4secs, to stay 2nd in the FV45 category overall. Sian Hall continued her excellent season with a superb time of 40mins 52secs for 43rd lady on the day and good enough to maintain 3rd position overall in the FV35 category. .

The men were lead home for the first time ever by Haydn Jones in an excellent time of 34mins 5secs for 81st male on the day, while Grahame Shone put in his usual very strong performance to finish less than a minute further back, in 34mins 48secs for 89th. Mark Mayers continued his recent improvements, finishing in his best ever Borders League position of 97th male, in a superb time of 35mins 18secs, just ahead of Pete Mould, who was making his debut for the club, and finished in a very creditable 102nd position in 35mins 32secs. Ever reliable Ed Reid finished in a very good time of 35mins 38secs for 107thmale, just ahead of Mike Carrighan, who once again ran a very powerful race to finish in 117th position, in a time of 36mins 13secs. Anthony Howe was the second Harrier to make his club debut on the day, and also ran tremendously well, to finish in 38mins 10secs for 137th position, while Alan Lucas also had an excellent run, finishing as 153rd male in 42mins 50secs. The team was completed by John Essary, who has never missed a Borders League race since the club joined the League almost eight years ago, finishing as 155th male on the day, in 43mins 30secs.
