9 Abergele Harriers were in Bangor on Saturday to take part in the opening round of the Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross Country League.

The ladies ran 2 laps of the slightly altered course with the men running 4 laps.

The hail, wind, rain and mud of last year were all forgotten as competitors set off in sunshine over relatively dry ground.

Carol Willgoose led the ladies home in 23m 18s for 29th overall and 2nd LV50.

Jeni Richards ran 24m 05s for 37th position closely followed by Chris Birch finishing in 24m 23s for 41st overall and 1st LV60.

Delyth Evans crossed the line in 26m 45s for 60th position with Dominique Jones completing a fantastic ladies team effort by running 29m 01s for 73rd position.

Mark Mayers, enjoying his first race on grass, led the men home in 36m 31s for 75th position overall.

Dave Edwards ran 39m 35s for 100th with Paul Thomas finishing in 39m 50s for 103rd and Anthony Howe crossing the line in 40m 39s for 106th.
