Majestic
Travel Cross Country League.
Round
5;
On Saturday 6 Harriers travelled to Oswestry for the final round of the Majestic Travel North Wales Cross-Country League. Over a very testing 6.4mile course the team finished with an impressive score of 365 points, securing them 8th position on the day and 8th position overall in the 18 team league, the highest finishing position ever in the history of the club. The team was lead home by inform Sean Mc Cormack who, in his first of 2 races this weekend, powered home in an excellent time of 39.47 for 24 position on the day, his highest of the season, earning him a well deserved 4th position overall in the MV40 category in this his first ever cross-country season. Second on the day was the equally impressive Richie Lee, also a newcomer this year to the discipline, who topped off an excellent season coming home in a fabulous 40.51 and 35th position. Next home was Grahame Shone, who also had his highest position of the season, running 42.27 for 54th place. Hot on Grahame’s heels was, the club cross-country captain, Ed Reid in 43.06 for 57th place, another excellent run. Next Harriers in were, the clubs most dedicated cross-country runners, Mike Nolan and Alan Lucas, who persevered with cross-country running all through the clubs leaner years, finishing 95th and 104th respectively in times of 50.22 and 53.40. Simon Shiels was unavailable for this fixture but his excellent performances all season, including his first ever cross-country victory in Wrexham, helped enormously towards the team achieving such a high finishing position. Thanks also to Steven Mc Cormack who attended all the seasons’ races acting as club photographer, supporter and finishing official.
