Ten men and four ladies represented Abergele Harriers in the first Borders Road Running League race of the 2014/2015 season. The race was held in Christleton near Chester on Remembrance Sunday with runners observing a two minute silence at 11am before the start. Over 350 runners from 17 clubs across North Wales, the Wirral and West Cheshire completed the 5.75 mile undulating course.

Ben Lightowler led the team home in a fantastic 32m 30s for 9th overall, beating his previous best Borders League position by 10 places. Darren Blazier ran 33m 08s for 16th overall and 1st MV40. Jodi Waters finished in 35m 49s for 51st followed by James Salt running 36m 23s for 58th. Mark Mayers ran 37m 31s for 80th with Rob Armstrong crossing the line in 39m 17s for 120th. Gareth Evans finished in 40m 07s  for 143rd ahead of Darren Battersby running 40m 48s for 163rd. Ben Garnett and Grahame Shone completed a strong men’s team performance with runs of 41m 11s for 174th and 41m 17s for 177th respectively.

Jeni Richards led the ladies team home in 39m 08s for 118th overall, 10th lady and 2nd FV50. Chris Birch finished in 42m 47s for 208th overall, 37th lady and 1st FV60. Amy Owen-Jones, making her debut for the club, ran 45m 02s for 260th overall and 57th lady with Rachel Shipley finishing in 45m 24s for 267th overall and 61st lady.

After one race the men are 5th in Division 1 and the ladies 3rd in Division 2.
