Eleven Abergele Harriers were at the Treborth Playing Fields, Bangor on Saturday to take part in the opening round of the Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross Country League.

Carol Willgoose led the ladies home in 24m 54s for 38th position overall and 1st FV55. Chris Birch ran 25m 43s for 44th position and 1st FV65 followed by Lucy Curtis finishing in 26m 42s for 54th position. Deede Plamperova, taking part in her first ever cross country race, ran a splendid 30m 13s for 69th position despite having shoe-lace problems! 

In the longer men's race Richie Lee led the Harriers home in 38m 33s for 58th position. Rob Armstrong ran 39m 11s for 64th closely followed by Mark Mayers finishing in 39m 22s for 67th position. Vernon Powell ran 44m 35s for 111th position just ahead of Tom Bancroft running 44m 44s for 112th. Dave Edwards finished in 47m 25s for 121st with Alan Lucas, rounding of a fantastic team performance with a run 58m 30s for 137th position.
