Fourteen Harriers travelled to Birkenhead on Sunday to join over 300 runners competing in the second round of the Borders Road Running League.

Five members of the team ran the 5.5mile course around Birkenhead Park with very tired legs having also tackled the cross country at Northop the previous day.

Club captain Darren Blazier led the men home in 30m 52s for 9th overall. Richard Wilyman finished in a superb 36th with Mark Mayers finishing in 36m 16s for 88th.

Paul Thomas crossed the line in 118th followed by Haydn Jones running just over 38 minutes for 148th and Dave Edwards finishing in 39m 44s for 176th.

Grahame Shone ran 41m 12s for 198th just ahead of Tom Bancroft in 41m 13s for 202nd. Ever-present John Essary completed the course in 48m 30s for 286th.

Jeni Richards led the ladies home in 39m exactly for 153rd overall while Carol Willgoose ran 39m 19s for 162nd overall, and Chris Birch finishing in 179th was once again 1st FV60. Paula Maguire crossed the line in 248th overall with Rachel Shipley running 49m 02s for 290th.
