Round 4 Borders League

Twelve Abergele Harriers travelled to Caernarfon on Sunday for the fourth round of the Borders Road Running League. The race was run in bitterly cold conditions over a ten kilometre course, but still produced some excellent results. First Harrier home and second Under 20 on the day was the ever-improving Josh Dixon, in a fantastic time of 34mins 27secs. Not far behind was Borders League Captain Darren Blazier running an excellent 35mins 45secs for 14^th position. Third Harrier and second MV45 on the day, consolidating his third position overall in his age category, was Tim Cahill, running an excellent race, finishing in 36mins 35secs for 18^th overall. Dewi Roberts was just behind in 22^nd position, with the consolation of actually winning the MV40 category on the day, in a time of 36mins 54secs. Club Captain Geran Hughes, still recovering from injury, put in a solid performance, finishing in 38mins 16secs for 40^th. Grahame Shone continued his recent excellent form with a superb time of 40mins 45secs for 71^st position, while Keith Elliott was equally pleased with 42mins 16secs for 101^st. Less than a minute further back was Ed Reid, running a very measured race, finishing in 43mins 11secs. Mark Mayers and Peter Hardy once again showed very consistent form, finishing in 46mins 31secs and 47mins 1sec respectively for 147^th and 149^th positions. Alan Lucas also ran fantastically well finishing in 49mins 40secs for 160^th, with Borders League ever-present John Essary completing an excellent team performance with a 51mins 10secs finish for 168^th position. The overall male team score of 680 points keeps the club well out of the relegation positions prom the top flight, although once again, very disappointingly no ladies ran from the club.
