Ten Abergele Harriers took part in the opening round of the Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross Country League held in Bangor on Saturday.  Despite dry weather on the day runners were faced with a very muddy and challenging course with some of the men making things even more difficult for themselves by missing the start by over 3 minutes!

Chris Birch led the ladies team home in 33m 02s for 38th overall and 1st FV65. Rachel Shipley ran 37m 32s for 64th position with Sue Calvert finishing in 39m 29s for 72nd position.

Tim Cahill led the men home in 45m 34s for 67th overall just ahead of Rob Armstrong running 45m 53s for 69th position. Mark Mayers ran 51m 30s for 113th followed by Anthony Howe finishing in 54m 43s for 127th. Vernon Pownall finished in 55m 14s for 131st with Paul Thomas hot on his heels crossing the line in 55m 35s for 132nd. Peter Hardy completed the team with a run of 68m 19s for 145th position.
