Twelve Abergele Harriers were among the 300 runners taking part in the penultimate round of the Borders Road Running League held over a 5.7mile course at Deeside on Wednesday evening.

Richard Wilyman led the team home in 32m 41s for 26th overall. Darren Blazier finished in 33m 55s (51st ) followed by Rob Armstrong, who had competed in a tough fell race the previous evening, running 35m 54s (85th). Andy Simpson crossed the line in 37m 44s (122nd) just ahead of Mark Mayers running 37m 59s (127th) and Andrew Mercer finishing in 38m 17s (135th). Grahame Shone ran 39 minutes exactly. Anthony Howe ran 40m 18s (175th) with John Essary completing the men’s with a run of 49m 56s (273rd).

Chris Birch led the ladies home in 41m 11s for 195th overall and 1st FV65.

Rachel Shipley ran 44m 06s (235th) with Lucy Curtis hot on her heels finishing in 44m 42s (243rd).
