Grand Prix Express North Wales

 Cross Country League.

Round 5; Oswestry, 6/2/2010.

Unfortunately only four Abergele Harriers travelled to Oswestry for the final round of the Grand Prix Express North Wales Cross Country League but all four performed excellently but at the end of the day the Men’s team were relegated from the first division after four years in the top flight, while the ladies had a good steady season in the mid section of the second division. Jeni Richards was the only lady running on the day over the tough three mile course. Jeni had a fantastic race finishing in 24mins 12secs for a tremendous 29th position overall. The men raced over a 5.8 mile course with Geran Hughes producing another outstanding performance finishing 19th on the day in a time of 37mins 33secs. Hughes was rewarded for his exploits with the third place overall in the MV40 category for the season. Keith Elliott, running his first cross country league race of the season, because of injury, returned with probably his best ever performance in the country, finishing in 56th position in a time of 41mins 7secs. Alan Lucas, a veteran of very many cross country seasons, produced another very steady and creditable performance, finishing in 113th position in an excellent time of 56mins 57secs. Thanks also to Angie Hughes and new arrival Medi, who travelled the long distance to provide superb support for the team.
