West Cheshire hosted the 2nd race in this season’s Borders Road Running League.  Fifteen Abergele Harriers were among the 431 runners taking part in the 5 mile race at Upton near Chester.

Ben Lightowler led the team home in an excellent 28:41 for 23rd overall. Rich Wilyman finished in 30:15 (60th) followed by Danny Williams in 30:35 (71st), Jodi Waters in 30:40 (74th), Darren Blazier in 32:27 (123rd), Gareth Evans in 33:15 (146th) and James Salt in 35:01 (198th). Calum Higgins, making his debut for the club, ran 35:07 (201st) just ahead of Darren Battersby finishing in 35:16 (208th), John Jones in 35:32 (215th) and Danny Snelson in 35:55 (228th). Chris Birch led the ladies home in 38:03 (287th overall – 2nd F60) with Amy Owen-Jones clocking 38:43 (311th). Grahame Shone, injured, and Paula Maguire, just returning to racing, crossed the line in 40:54 (356th) and 40:58 (357th) respectively.
