The highlight of this Cross-Country race was the magnificent ladies turn-out with Carol Willgoose leading them home with an outstanding 24th position in the highly competitive field, and 3rd FV45, only 12 seconds behind first in the age group. Angie Hughes, also running excellently at present wasn’t far behind in 43rd, 4th FV40, with Su Calvert producing her best ever Cross-Country performance, finishing in a tremendous 57th. Alison Guillemin, who unfortunately was unwell during the race, still fought brilliantly to finish 64th, while Jo Lewis, making her competitive debut for the club finished in a tremendous 74th, just ahead of Cheryl Richards, making only her second club representative race, who finished 76th. Lucy Jones, one of five ladies in the team who “graduated” from Jaime Ashton’s “beginners group”, also ran excellently finishing in 82nd, while Sonia Wignall and Annette Jones demonstrated superb team running, finishing 86th and 87th respectively, to complete a memorable ladies team performance. The wonderful turnout was rewarded with a top position in the second division (see League positions after round 1) for the first time in the club's history, and bodes very well for the season.

In the men’s race Club Captain Geran Hughes produced the performance of the year with a phenomenal 11th position overall, and 3rd MV40, in an extremely high quality field giving, followed home in 24th by Cross-Country Captain Sean McCormack in 25th. Tim Cahill produced his best ever cross-country performance finishing in an excellent 34th, just one position ahead of Steven McCormack who had travelled home from Hull especially to turn out for the club. Tim's time also made him 3rd MV45 overall. Ed Reid just one week after finishing 19th in the Anglesey Marathon finished very well in 60th, just ahead of Matthew Ashton in 62nd. Grahame Shone proved he is almost back to his best with an excellent 88th, while Haydn Jones, making his cross-country debut, finished a very impressive 102nd. Paul Thomas ran an equally pleasing 113th, while the cheer of the day was reserved for Club Chairman Alan Lucas, who made a very welcome return to racing after sixteen months out, with a wonderful performance finishing in 132nd.
