Saturday saw one of the most successful days in the history of the club when a team of eight men and three ladies travelled to Ruthin for The North Wales Cross Country Championships, taking home three team and five individual prizes. In the ladies race Kristy Stephenson was first Harrier home in 26mins 40secs winning the third FV40 prize. Hilary Jaques wasn’t far behind in 27mins 3secs for second FV50, while ever improving Angie Davidson had a superb race, finishing in 28mins 10secs for second FV35. The trio combined to become silver medallists in the Ladies veteran team race. In the men’s race Sean McCormack was first Harrier, in an excellent time of 38mins 7secs, for 11th overall and 3rd V40, just one position ahead of Geran Hughes, who finished in 28mins 31secs. Grahame Shone continued in his superb form, just two minutes further back in 40mins 38secs, for second V55, with Richie Lee just fourteen seconds further back. McCormack, Shone and Lee combined for the silver medal in the Male Veterans race. Justin McIlveen, making his debut at the discipline, ran an outstanding race, finishing in 41mins 34secs, with Roy Evans once again running excellently to finish in 44mins 10secs. Rob Spotswood ran a superb 46mins 54secs, while Alan Lucas ran 41mins 33secs for the slightly shorter course. The men’s team combined to also win the silver medal in the overall race.
